We are the Powell family (Ron, Laura, Kimberly and Melissa) we are missionaries to the great kingdom of Thailand, serving with ABWE (Association of Baptists for World Evangelism).  We are currently working with a group of missionaries in a supportive role. Our group is called "City on a Hill".   

The purpose of "City on a Hill" is to facilitate a National Church Planting Movement, which generates a Missions Movement, among the unreached people groups of Asia for the Glory of God. "City on a Hill" is taken from the Matthew 5 passage, more specifically verses 14-16. In these verses Jesus is teaching His disciples by using the example of light. His disciples are to be a light of the world. When a light is being used it is not hidden under a bowl, it is placed on a stand to allow many to see. A well lit city, a "City on a Hill" cannot be hidden. This is in contrast to the world. The people of the world love darkness but as followers of God we are to walk in the light as He Himself is in the light (1 John 1:5-7). As disciples of Jesus we are to shine our light before men, that they may see our good deeds and praise our Father in heaven.
